BROLUX Black Art Deco Bakelite Door Knobs

Description

The Brolux Bakelite collection is a recreation of Permax patented bakelite door handles and knobs from the early twentieth century. Uniquely and cleverly, they feature a brass flange that secures the knob or handle to the backplate without the need for the usual grub screw. The collection is small and unique, and offers combinations of just one style of backplate with knobs or handles (or one of each), and available as latch (no keyhole), lock (with keyhole) or bathroom versions.
Pairs of door knobs or handles are supplied complete with fixing screws, two brass flanges, screws to complement and a plain 6″ x 5/16″ spindle.
Please note: these handles are unsprung – just like the originals – and so require some help to return them to a horizontal position. You willl therefore need to ensure that the latch or lock used has sufficient spring capacity.
The 5/16″ (7.93mm) spindle should fit some existing locks as well as new ones which are 8mm. If the spindle supplied is too large to suit your old locks you will probably have an old lock that was designed for a 7.6mm spindle. You will need a sharp square file to enlarge the square hole of the relevant part in the lock (called the lock follower) that the spindle passes through to increase it to 7.9mm.
